hayling stumble against infinity
On Tuesday night the Humbugs made the short trip to Knowle Village Fareham to face Infinity FC. The game started off fast and furious with the Humbugs having the first chance of the game before Infinity broke through at the other end only to be denied by the outstanding Chris Clark. The home team took the lead after 6 minutes, a cross from the left hand side led to a scramble in the box and another save from Clark before the ball was bundled over the line. With chances at both end and Hayling matching Infinity in every department it was a surprise that no more goals were scored before half time. The second half started much the same with chances at both ends but on 56 minutes the infinity right winger broke down the right and his cross was put into his own net by Jordan Hughes. With Sam Neal putting and effort over the bar from a header the game as a contest was over after Jordan Hughes was sent off after being shown a second yellow. It was a learning curve for the young Hayling side and will hopefully get back to winning ways against Overton United.

Great start for new look hayling
The 2019/20 season kicked off with an away trip for the Humbugs to Winchester Castle. On sunny August afternoon Hayling started off with a bang and debutant Sam Neal scoring with a wicked deflection inside the first minute. With the young attacking side taking control of the game chances were created but were unable to extend the lead. With Winchester looking for the long ball over the top, keeper Chris Clark made 2 important saves to ensure that Hayling went into the break in the lead. With 10 minutes gone in the second half Harry Frost came on for Dan Goodsell and soon made an impact putting Hayling 2-0 up and in control. Using his raw pace he put the tiring back line under immense pressure and forced them into a mistake and slotted the ball home. After a mistake at the back from captain Elliott Spencer, a yellow card was shown and the ball was in the back of the net direct from the free kick. With Winchester trying to get back in the game some fresh legs were brought on with Alex Jarrom coming on for Ryan Summers. Again the substitute made an impact with Jarrom running onto a Matt Topple through ball and chipping the keeper to make it three.

new era for Hayling
For the 2019/20 season there will be a number of changes and new faces around the club. We would first of all like to welcome our new 1st Team Manager Dan Bishop to the club. As well as Dan he also has his backroom staff, with Assistant manager Gary Taylor and Physio Jay Barnes joining him at the College. With a talented crop of players being brought into the club the future is looking bright for the Humbugs.
It's also all change in the reserves for their maiden campaign in the Wyvern League with former Humbugs striker Dan Mortimer rejoining the club as Player-Manager
